“Mortal, heed my words.” – Meridia

Through my work with Beyond Skyrim and Skywind, I was approached by the Tamriel Rebuilt team to take on the roles of Meridia, the Daedric Prince of Life, and later, Namira, the Goddess of Ancient Darkness.
It has been an incredible honor to bring these iconic characters to life, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to voice both the Harbinger of Dawn and the Mistress of Decay.

WHo is Meridia?

The Lady Meridia is the powerful goddess of Life and Light, one of the 17 Daedric Princes who each govern their own distinct sphere of influence within the vast Elder Scrolls universe. The Daedric Princes are godlike entities that operate by their own rules, unapologetically pursuing their motives and gathering followers across Mundus by leaving clear and measurable marks upon the world. In contrast to the Aedra—the more commonly worshiped, often benevolent deities—Daedric Princes serve as counterbalances, embodying forces that challenge and disrupt the established order. Their influence is often far-reaching, and their followers are drawn to them by the profound, and sometimes unsettling, effects they have on the world.

Like many Daedric Princes, Meridia views mortals primarily as “assets” to further her own goals. She has the power to grant immortality to individuals, but at a significant cost—their free will. Those who receive this gift are transformed into the Purified, stripped of their autonomy and bound to her will. These individuals are cleansed of disease and death, yet become slaves to her command, their willpower entirely surrendered.
The ranks of the Purified include both those who willingly pledge themselves to Meridia and those who are unwillingly bound to her, such as those who oppose or defy her. Meridia also granted immortality to her champion, Umaril the Unfeathered, an ancient Ayleid foe of the legendary Pelinal Whitestrake.

Meridia goes by many names:  Lady of Infinite Energies, the Bright Lady, the Strict but Fair Arbiter of Inner Luminance, the Sunfire, the Radiant One, the Keeper, the Lady of Light, the Red Star, the Harbinger of Dawn, Goddess Who Holds, Mirror of the Lie and the Prince of Life

Who Is Namira?

The Lady Namira is the malevolent goddess of Hunger, Decay, and Darkness, serving as the complete antithesis to Meridia.
Like her counterpart, Namira is one of the 17 Daedric Princes, each governing their own distinct sphere of influence. Namira’s domain is that of ancient darkness, encompassing horrors from beyond time, the primal forces of decay, and all things rotten and corrupted. She embodies the grim and inevitable forces of degradation, drawing power from the most primal and deteriorating aspects of existence.

Namira is the Daedric Prince of spirits, shadows, and decay, ruling over a vast domain of dark and sinister entities. She is often associated with creatures that evoke visceral disgust in mortals, such as slugs, spiders, and other vermin. The bat serves as her emblematic symbol, reflecting her connection to darkness and decay. In Khajiiti belief, all creatures that feed on rotting flesh are considered her spies.
As the patron of vermin, squalor, and the destitute, Namira is linked to beggars and the gifts they receive—disease, pity, and neglect. Her influence is often tied to the concept of eternity, with some Khajiit traditions recognizing her as a spirit of infinite realms. Namira views herself as the rightful ruler of all spirits, asserting dominion over both the living and the dead.
Depictions of Namira vary, with some statues representing her as a long-haired woman draped in robes, often accompanied by a small, emaciated beast, sometimes humanoid in form. Other representations depict her as a cloaked figure with a slug-like body, skeletal face, and torso, supported by numerous spiny arthropod legs. These forms reflect her dual nature—both a sovereign of shadow and a symbol of the unrelenting forces of decay.

She is also known as the Daedric Prince of Hunger, the Mistress of Decay or Lady of Decay, the Spirit Daedra and the Goddess of the Dark.

Dual-Track voice work!

For Namira’s voice, we aimed to create an unsettling and immersive experience, fitting for the goddess of decay, corruption, and all things decrepit. We wanted her voice to feel as though it is worming its way into the player’s mind, lurking in the shadows, already present within their thoughts. To achieve this, I layered two vocal tracks: one features my natural vocal rasp, while the other is a deep falsetto grumble— lowest pitch my voice can reach.
